Gráinne qualified from UCC in 2000 and practiced in the UK and Australia before returning home in 2006. She has obtained a number of postgraduate qualifications including a Diploma in Restorative Dentistry from Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS Eng) and a Masters in Clinical Dentistry from the University of Leeds. In 2010 she was awarded a Fellowship of the Faculty of General Dental Practice from the RCS Eng which is recognised as the highest award in general dental practice.
